Biography

Daniela Balsamo was born in Palermo (Italy) in the 1970.

After she gets an art diploma, she moves to Florence where she follows a fashion design course at Polimoda (International Polytechnic of Fashion). In 1991, thanks to a student grant, she broadened her knowledge of fashion illustration at the FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in New York.

 

After some years of professional design in the fashion world, she moved back to Palermo to start up in a new university career studying Scenography at the Fine Arts Academy. From 1997 to 2001 she worked in very important theatrical productions and next world tours with great international directors, like Peter Greenaway and Bob Wilson. Because of the intense theatrical activity Daniela Balsamo in 2002 got settled in Rome where she collaborates with many fashion magazines as fashion illustrator and stylist. Since 2005 she has lived in Palermo where she teaches fashion styling and creativity trends at AM5 (International Academy of Fashion).

 

She also collaborates as costume and set designer for many theatrical and cinematographic productions. During the last ten years she has intensify her artistic research showing her works in many solo and group exhibitions .
